The Baobab Summit is an annual gathering of scholars, alumni and professionals from universities and countries partnering with the Mastercard Foundation. Again this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the opportunity arose for the Foundation to conduct its second Virtual Baobab Summit; an interactive experience between the fellows through their computer screens.
The Baobab Summit was held from August 02 to August 6, 2021 on a platform specially designed for the event. This year’s theme was « Re-imagining our realities ». In order to give more Beninese fellows the chance to participate in this year’s summit, a high participation quota was allocated to Benin. During the five days of the summit, enriching activities allowed the Beninese fellows to interact with their peers from other countries and to receive valuable advice for their personal and professional development. A total of 600 scholars, alumni and professionals from universities and countries partnering with the Mastercard Foundation participated in the summit.
During this summit, the 15 winning teams of the social venture challenge were selected. The University of Abomey-Calavi is represented by the « Top farm » team of Roger TCHARO and Irène BOSSAVI, both scholarship holders of the second cohort.
